هدف البحث الى معرفة طبيعة العلاقة بين التفاؤل، وتحقيق الذات، والكشف عن الفروق بين استجابة عينة البحث حول التفاؤل، وتحقيق الذات تبعا لمتغير الجنس. تكونت عينة البحث من (296) طالب وطالبة مقسمين إلى (146) طالب و(150) طالبة، وطبق عليهم مقياس التفاؤل إعداد (محمد إبراهيم عيد، هبة سامي محمود،سحر عبد العظيم، 2015) ومقياس تحقيق الذات إعداد (محمد سعد عثمان، فيوليت إبراهيم، 2015). وتم استخدام المنهج الوصفى نظرا لملائمته لطبيعة وأهداف البحث. أشارت نتائج البحث الي وجود علاقة ارتباطية دالة إحصائيا بين متغير التفاؤل، ومتغير تحقيق الذات، وعدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا بين متوسط درجات عينة البحث من الذكور والإناث في متغيرى التفاؤل وتحقيق الذات. The research aims to know the nature of the relationship between optimism and self-actualization, and to reveal the differences between the response of the research sample about optimism and self-actualization according to the gender variable. The research sample consisted of (296) male and female students divided into (146) male and (150) female students. And the optimism scale was applied to them, prepared by (Muhammad Ibrahim Eid, Heba Sami Mahmoud, Sahar Abdel Azim, 2015), and the self-actualization scale prepared by (Muhammad Saad Othman, Violet Ibrahim, 2015). The descriptive approach was used due to its suitability to the nature and objectives of the research. The results of the research indicated that there is a statistically significant correlation between the variable of optimism and the variable of self-actualization, and there are no statistically significant differences between the average scores of the research sample of males and females in the variables of optimism and self-actualization.
