The study aimed to identify the level of academic and vocational preparation for mathematics students and its relationship with their attitudes towards mathematics teaching. It also aimed to find out the impact of the variables of gender and academic level on the level of academic and vocational preparation and on the attitude towards mathematics teaching. The sample of the study consisted of (97) third and fourth level students from the mathematics department in the College of Education at Ibb university. The achievement scores of students in both of the academic and educational courses were computed and the attitude scale towards mathematics teaching was used. The results of the study showed that the level of students, achievement in the academic preparation courses was low and the level of students, achievement in the educational preparation courses was good. However, the results indicated that there were no significant differences in the level of students, achievement in the academic and educational preparation courses and there were no significant differences in the attitudes towards mathematics teaching due to the gender and academic level. In addition, the results revealed that the relationship between the level of students, achievement in the academic and educational preparation courses and attitudes towards mathematics teaching was negative.
