تبحث هذه الدراسة في الدور التربوي الذي يمكن للتربية العربية أن تمارسه ضمن موجة الحداثة وفي مواجهة التحديات المصيرية التي تهدد الوجود القومي العربي ثقافة وهوية وحضارة ومصيرا. وتعمل على تحليل معطيات التخلف العربي في صدامه مع الحداثة التي تنبثق من صلب الحضارة الغربية المتقدمة. وتقوم الدراسة بتحليل الأوضاع الحداثية للتربية العربية ومدى قدرتها على تثوير نفسها من أجل المشاركة في المشروع الحداثي في البلدان العربية. وتبين الدراسة أوضاع التخلف الشامل في بنية التربية العربية وعدم قدرتها على ممارسة أي فعل حداثي ضمن مشروع الحداثة العربية الذي لم يكتمل في جوهره. وتقدم مقترحات لتثوير التربية العربية ضمن سياق الحداثة العالمية المعاصرة لتكون رافعة التقدم والحضارة. ومن ثم تلح الدراسة في توصياتها على أهمية ترسيخ القيم الحداثية في التربية العربية وهي القيم التي تتمثل في العقلانية والعلمانية والديمقراطية والحريات السياسية في عالم شديد التغير والتجديد. This study examines the pedagogical role that Arab education can play within the wave of modernity and facing the fateful challenges that threaten the Arab national existence, its culture, identity, civilization, and destiny. It provides analysis of the data of Arab backwardness in its clash with modernity that emerges from the core of advanced Western civilization. The study analyzes the modernist situation of the Arab education and its ability to enlighten itself in order to participate in the modernist project in the Arab countries. The study shows the overall situation of extensive underdevelopment in the structure of Arab education and the inability to exercise any modernist act within the Arab modernity project, which has not been completed in essence. The study presents proposals to enlighten the Arab education within the context of contemporary global modernity to be the support of progress and Civilization. The study, then, insists on its recommendations for the importance of consolidating modernist values in Arab education, which are the values that are represented in rationality, secularism, democracy and political freedoms in a highly changing and renewal world.
