The study aimed to design an electronic training program for the professional development of male and female teachers in the field of modern technologies, based on their training needs in basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used two tools: the first is a questionnaire to determine the training needs of male and female teachers, which was applied to a sample of (140) male and female teachers from three educational governorates. The results of the training needs were analyzed, and the researcher took 50% of the sample members’ great needs as a criterion (spoken value) to be included in the electronic training program. The second tool was an arbitration form for an electronic training program. The study found that the need for training in modern technologies was remarkably positive, with an arithmetic average of (2.33), and that the areas of training needs were high in (6) areas with arithmetic averages ranging between (2.64 - 2.20), while the degree of the field of interactive technologies in Education came at an average level with an arithmetic mean of (1.97) . The study concluded with the design of a proposed interactive electronic training program using specialized electronic training (teaching) programs. The electronic program included (26) training materials with their attachments such as training presentations, electronic books, and software. The study recommended utilizing the content of the interactive electronic training program as a general framework for a training program in the field of modern technologies for male and female teachers. It also suggested adopting the electronic training program in the professional development plan for male and female teachers and enhancing the training programs for school leaders, to improve their skills in dealing with modern technologies. Besides, the study recommended converting the electronic training program into an electronic training site within one of the windows of the Sultanate of Oman's Educational Portal or one of the windows of the e-training platform of the Specialist Center for Professional Training of Teachers. It proposed as well distributing it on mobile storage devices. (Published abstract)
