اللغة هي وسيلة التواصل الأولى بين الثقافات المختلفة. والتعابير الاصطلاحية تمثل مكونا لغويا وثقافيا أساسيا من مكونات اللغة الإنجليزية. وتعد التعابير الاصطلاحية ذات الألوان واحدة منها، وهي تعتمد على استخدم الألوان مجازا لإعطاء مدلول معين، أو للإشارة لوضع ما أو حال بعينه. وترجمة هذه التعابير على النحو الصحيح يستلزم التمتع بمستوى كاف من مهارات الوعي الثقافي. وقد هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف أثر استخدام وحدة تدريسية مقترحة عن التعابير الاصطلاحية ذات الألوان في تنمية مهارات الوعي الثقافي والاتجاه نحو الترجمة لدى الطلاب غير المتخصصين في اللغة الإنجليزية بكلية التربية ببورسعيد. وضمت أدوات الدراسة مقياس في مهارات الوعي الثقافي، ومقياس آخر في الاتجاه نحو الترجمة، وكلاهما من إعداد الباحث، واللذين جرى تطبيقهما قبليا وبعديا على عينة البحث (ن= 22)، بالإضافة إلى الوحدة التدريبية المقترحة التي جرى تدريسها لعينة البحث في الفصل الدراسي الأول من العام لجامعي 2020-2021. وكشفت نتائج الدراسة عن وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا بين متوسطات درجات التطبيق القبلي والبعدي في أبعاد مقياس في مهارات الوعي الثقافي، ومقياس الاتجاه نحو الترجمة، لصالح التطبيق البعدي، وبما يشير إلى فعالية الوحدة التدريسية المقترحة في تنمية مهارات الوعي الثقافي والاتجاه نحو الترجمة لدى الطلاب غير المتخصصين في اللغة الإنجليزية. وفي ضوء النتائج التي خلصت إليها، اختتمت هذه الدراسة ببعض التطبيقات التربوية، والمقترحات البحثية، والتوصيات المفيدة، لمعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية، وطلابها، وباحثيها ومطوري مناهجها. Language is a tool of communication between cultures. Color idioms are language expressions that are used beyond their apparent meanings, using colors to express moods and feelings. They are culture bound and is only fully understood through understanding of their original culture. The aim of this study was to propose an instructional unit on color idioms, and investigate its effectiveness on the development of cultural awareness skills and attitudes toward translation among non-specialist students of English at Port Said Faculty of Education. It was an experimental study of one-group design, conducted in the first semester of the academic year 2020-2021. Data were collected from (22) participants through two scales: a scale on participants’ cultural awareness skills and another scale on their attitudes toward translation, both prepared by the researcher. Later, sets of data were statistically analyzed using different statistical techniques. The results of the analyses revealed that participants had developed their cultural awareness skills and maintained better attitudes toward translation. In the light of findings, necessary implications, suggestions for further research, and recommendations were provided for curricula and policy makers, researchers, teachers, and students regarding raising cultural awareness and developing positive attitudes towards translation.
