هدفت الدراسة الحالية التعرف على دور التعليم في الكليات الإنسانية بجامعة الكويت في تنمية القيم المرتبطة بالمواطنة لدى الطلبة، والتعرف إلى الفروق الإحصائية لدور التعليم في الكليات الإنسانية (التربية، الآداب، العلوم الاجتماعية، الشريعة) تبعا لمتغيرات نوع الطلبة (ذكور، إناث)، والكلية. وقد استخدم المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لمناسبته لطبيعة الدراسة وأهدافها. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم إعداد استبانة تكونت من (٣٠) فقرة، جرى التأكد من صدقها بعرضها على مجموعة من المحكمين، والتحقق من ثباتها باستخدام الاتساق الداخلي وحسب معامل الثبات وفقا لمعادلة كرونباخ الفا. وطبقت الاستبانة على عينة عشوائية من طلبة وطالبات الكليات الإنسانية بلغت (٥١٩) من الطلبة المسجلين في السنة النهائية. تم استخدام اختبار (T-test)، واختبار التباين (ANOVA) للمقارنات بين المتوسطات الحسابية. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن دور التعليم بالكليات الإنسانية في تنمية القيم المرتبطة بالمواطنة لدى الطلبة كان بدرجة جيدة جدا. وأظهرت النتائج إلى عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لمتغير نوع الطالب، وأظهرت أيضا إلى وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لمتغير الكلية. وفي ضوء نتائج الدراسة أوصت الباحثة بمجموعة من التوصيات للارتقاء بمستوى برامج الكليات الإنسانية ومحتوى مقرراتها الدراسية وأنشطتها لتنمية القيم المرتبطة بالمواطنة لدى الطلبة. This research aims to identify the role education plays in enhancing university students’ citizenship values. The case of humanities degree programs in Kuwait University is investigated to identify differences in the role education plays in each of the following humanities college degree programs - Education, Literature, Social Sciences, and Sharia’a. Given the nature of this study, an analytical descriptive approach is employed to evaluate statistically significant differences in relationships between gender and college variables. To ensure soundness of the mixed methods research design, data tools were member checked for validity and reliability. Data collection methods involve a 30-item questionnaire applied to a randomized sample of 519 senior students enrolled in the humanities college degree programs at Kuwait University. Data analysis methods of T-tests and ANOVA tests are applied to identify differences between the arithmetic means. Findings indicate that education plays a positive role in strengthening the citizenship values of students enrolled in the humanities college programs. Although the gender variable did not reveal any statistically significant differences, results did indicate statistical differences based on the humanities college degree programs. The research concludes with a set of recommendations for improving the humanities college degree programs’ content (theoretical and practical), so as to further enhance citizenship values among Kuwait University students.
