The effectiveness of the group guidance program based on Gestalt’s theory in developing reducing perfectionism for 10th grade students at King Abdullah schools for excellence [Article]
The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a group guidance program based on the Gestalt theory in and reducing perfectionism among tenth grade students in King Abdullah schools for excellence, Zarqa Governorate directorate of first Zarqa Education. The researcher used the semi-experimental method. Yet, the study sample consisted of (45) students from King Abdullah Schools, Zarqa branch, divided into two groups, i.e. the experimental group which consisted of (23) students and the control group which consisted of (22) students, they were selected by applying the perfectionism scale to all branches and that it was based on the results of the scale that the two divisions that obtained high scores on the perfectionism scale were adopted and that each of the experimental and control groups were randomly selected, Hence, and to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared the perfectionism scale which consisted of (40) paragraphs and that the perfectionism scale was applied in advance on both groups, and then the collective guidance program was applied to the experimental group members. The results of the post-application showed a decrease in the level of perfectionism in favor of the experimental group. Further, the results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α=1315) between the rates of performance of the experimental group in the post- and follow-up measurement on the perfectionism scale which indicates the effect of continuing the program. The study recommended the application of the collective guidance program to reduce perfectionism used in the study at different age stages. (Published abstract)
