This study investigated the impact of teaching English using the Robinson strategy (SQ3R) on developing reading comprehension skills for 9th-grade students in Jordan. To achieve the study objectives, an experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design followed, involving two groups (control and experimental). A purposive sample of 60 9th grade students was selected from Deir Alla secondary school for boys, affiliated with the directorate of education in the Deir Alla District, Al-Balqa Governorate, during the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. Using random assignments, 30 students from Section (A) were taught as the experimental group, while 30 students from section (B) were assigned to the control group. Two instruments were used in the study: a reading comprehension skills test, an achievement test, and a teacher's guide. The study found a statistically significant effect on reading comprehension, in favor of the experimental group members who were taught by the Robinson strategy (SQ3R) compared to the control group members who were taught by the conventional method. Based on these results, the researchers recommended a set of recommendations, including the development of training programs for English language teachers on how to employ modern teaching strategies, including the Robinson strategy (SQ3R) in English language teaching.
