Mental health problems among mothers in Jordan and their relationship to sleep problems and aggressive behavior among their children with autism spectrum disorder [Article]
The study was conducted to identify the mental health problems of mothers in Jordan and their relationship to sleep problems and aggression in their children, because the mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder face clear difficulties, which negatively affects the mental health of the mothers. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used descriptive analytical approach. The study sample consisted of (130) mothers of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder who are enrolled in the Model School for Special Education in Amman. To achieve the objectives of the study, the scale of mental health problems SCL - 90 - R Symptoms Check List was relied upon, a scale of sleep problems and aggression in the autistic child was prepared, as the validity of the arbitrators, the validity of the scale, and the reliability of the two scales were verified. The results of the study showed that the level of mental health problems among mothers in Jordan was high, and the study found that sleep problems and aggression in children with autism spectrum disorder came to a moderate degree. The results showed a statistically significant correlation between the independent variables (sleep, aggression) and the dependent variable (mental health problems). (Published abstract)
