The aim of this research paper was identifying the basic competences of the principal’s character of the school to let him/her take the helm of the school, also it aimed to identify the emergence of the competences’ movement, its spreading factors and its classifications. This research paper shed the light on competences’ characteristics, the basis of the principal’s competences determination and the required leading competences for the principal. It was recommended the importance of getting attention to develop and improve the schools leaders’ competences through providing the professional requirements which are needed to promote their leading competences; it was recommended establishing more educational researches which concern with the required leading competences for schools leaders.
