Measurement scales are utilized to assess specific skills or abilities of individuals in various domains, such as intelligence, language or personality, in this context, we specifically find the depression scale used in the Minnesota test. It serves as a psychological assessment tool to determine the presence and severity of depression within the healthcare context, guiding therapeutic interventions. The application of this test, particularly the depression scale, depends on the psychological conditions that distinguish individuals, taking into consideration socio-cultural factors that influence their experiences and responses. Our choice of focusing on these criteria in our study aims to examine the validity and reliability of the depression scale from the Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory 2, using the Rasch model based on modern theory, we posed the following questions: what are the reliability and validity indicators of the Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory 2 depression scale according to the Rasch model? Additionally, how well do its items align with the proficiency levels of adolescent individuals? (adolescents). This was accomplished by applying the scale to a sample of 300 students from Lateroush AlJilali Secondary School -Mostaganam. We relied on a specialized statistical analysis program Win Steps to analyze study’s data. The field results indicated that the test meets the criteria of one dimensionality, and the scale items exhibit appropriate conformity with the Rasch model, demonstrating an acceptable level of reliability. However, this finding remains generally nongeneralizable. Therefore, we recommend conducting future studies with a larger sample size to ensure obtaining accurate results, thereby enhancing their generalizability to encompass broader groups of teenagers.
