استهدفت الدراسة الكشف عن درجة الصعوبات التي تواجه طالبات السنة التحضيرية في جامعة حفر الباطن في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية. استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي المسحي، وشمل مجتمع الدراسة جميع طالبات السنة التحضيرية في جامعة حفر الباطن، والبالغ عددهن (840) طالبة. طبقت الدراسة على عينة بلغ عددها (387) من مجتمع الدراسة وفقا لأسلوب الرابطة الأمريكية لتحديد حجم عينة الدراسة، وتم استخدام الاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات اللازمة للدراسة. توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج، أهمها: أن الصعوبات التي تواجه طالبات السنة التحضيرية في جامعة حفر الباطن في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية جاءت بدرجة عالية بشكل عام، وأن أهم الصعوبات التي تتعلق بمنهج اللغة الإنجليزية هو طول المحاضرات، كما أن أهم الصعوبات التي تتعلق بعضو هيئة التدريس هو عدم مراعاة عضو هيئة التدريس للفروق الفردية بين الطالبات، كما تبين أن أهم الصعوبات التي تتعلق بالطالبات هو ضعف التركيز بصورة كافية على تعلم مهارات اللغة الإنجليزية، في حين أشارت الدراسة إلى أن أهم الصعوبات التي تتعلق بالبيئة المدرسية هو أن الطالبات لم يمارسوا اللغة بشكل كاف في مرحلة ما قبل الجامعة. وفي ضوء تلك النتائج، أوصت الدراسة بعدد من التوصيات، أهمها: العمل على زيادة الاهتمام بالجانب التطبيقي في المقررات الجامعية، بما يخدم الطالبات في حياتهن العملية. وتكثيف برامج التدريب المقدمة للطالبات بما يساهم في زيادة مهاراتهن في اللغة الإنجليزية. واستخدام أساليب التدريس الحديثة التي تساعد الطالبات على ممارسة اللغة الإنجليزية بشكل أوسع. The study aimed to identifying the degree of difficulties faced by preparatory year students at The University of Hafar Al-Batin in learning English. The study used the descriptive survey method, and the study sample included 840 students in the preparatory year at The University of Hafar al-Batin, and the study was applied to a sample of 387 from the study sample in accordance with the American Association's method of determining the size of the study sample, and the questionnaire was used as a tool for collecting the necessary data for the study. The study found a set of results, the most important of which is that the difficulties faced by preparatory year students at the University of Hafar al-Batin in learning English came at a high degree in general and that the most important difficulties related to the English curriculum is the length of lectures, and the most important difficulties for faculty members is not taking into account the individual differences between female students, and it has been found that the most important difficulties related to female students are the poor concentration sufficiently on learning English language skills, while the study indicated that the most important difficulties related to the school environment is that female students did not practice the language adequately in pre-university stages. According to these results, the study recommended many recommendations, the most significance of which are as follows: Raising the interest in the practical aspect of university courses, to serve female students in their practical life. Intensifying training programs for female students to increase their English language skills. Using modern teaching methods that help students practice English more broadly. (Published abstract)
