بحثت الدراسة في استثمار تطبيقات إنترنت الأشياء التي تدعم التعليم عن بعد في المكتبات الأكاديمية. اعتمدت على منهج تحليل المحتوى؛ وذلك لحصر تطبيقات أنترنت الأشياء التي تدعم عمليات التعليم عن بعد، والوقوف على دور تلك التطبيقات في دعم عملية التعليم عن بعد، وجهود المكتبات في تطوير تلك التطبيقات، وجاهزيتها وكيفية الاستفادة منها. توصلت الدراسة إلى أن المكتبات الأكاديمية تقدم خدماتها التعليمية عن بعد، مثل: المحاضرات في البيئة الافتراضية، وإتاحة المصادر العلمية باستخدام تقنيات إنترنت الأشياء مثل: تقنية البلوتوث، وتقنية الاستشعار، وتقنية ويب 4.0 من خلال مجموعة من الأجهزة والتطبيقات مثل: تطبيقات الأجهزة الذكية وتطبيقات الواقع المعزز والفصول الذكية، ولوحة المفاتيح وسماعة الأذن اللاسلكية. وتعمل على تطوير تطبيقات أنترنت الأشياء التي تدعم عملية التعليم عن بعد، من خلال تطوير البنية التحتية، وتوفير الأجهزة الداعمة، وتدريب العنصر البشري. كما تتضح جاهزية المكتبات الأكاديمية في تطبيق عملية التعليم عن بعد باستخدام تطبيقات أنترنت الأشياء من خلال امتلاكها للأجهزة التقنية وطاقم العمل المدرب وإتاحة خدماتها للمستفيدين. استفادت المكتبات الأكاديمية من تطبيقات أنترنت الأشياء التي تدعم عملية التعليم عن بعد، من خلال إتاحة وصول المستفيدين لمصادر المعلومات بكل أشكالها، وإقامة المحاضرات والدروس العلمية الافتراضية. كما أن التطور السريع الحاصل في التقنية ومجاراة المتغيرات الحاصلة في الميدان التعليمي من أهم مبررات المكتبات الأكاديمية في استثمار تطبيقات أنترنت الأشياء التي تدعم عملية التعليم عن بعد؛ وذلك من أجل الاستعداد لأي ظرف أو مشكلة تمنع عملية التعليم الاعتيادية. This study examined the investment of internet of things applications that support distance education in academic libraries, and relied on the method of content analysis; in order to limit the applications of the Internet of things that support distance learning processes, and to determine the role of those applications in supporting the distance education process, and the efforts of libraries in developing these applications, their readiness and how to benefit from them. The study found that academic libraries provide their educational services remotely, such as: lectures in the virtual environment, and the availability of scientific resources using Internet technologies such as: Bluetooth technology, sensor technology, and Web 4.0 technology through a range of devices and applications. Such as: smart device applications, augmented reality, smart classroom, keyboard and wireless earphone. And it works on developing internet applications that support the distance education process, by developing infrastructure, providing supportive devices, and training the human element. The readiness of academic libraries in applying the distance learning process using Internet of Things applications is also evident through their possession of technical devices and trained staff, and the availability of their services to the beneficiaries. Academic libraries have benefited from Internet of Things applications that support the distance education process, by providing beneficiaries with access to information sources in all its forms, and by holding virtual lectures and scientific lessons. The rapid development in technology and keeping pace with the changes taking place in the educational field is one of the most important justifications for academic libraries to invest in Internet of Things applications that support the distance education process; In order to prepare for any circumstance or problem that prevents the normal educational process.
