The use of corpora e.g., the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) has little to nonsufficient support for classroom efficacy in the literature. This paper addresses that ‘gap’ and emphasizes the importance of vocabulary teaching through ‘exposure’ to “authentic texts” found on different corpora. To attest for COCA’s efficacy, an experimental study is conducted on twenty-six Saudi elementary students divided into two groups, control and treatment. Progress is measured using pre-post-tests. Test scores are analyzed quantitatively using SPSS. Students’ perceptions regarding COCA are collected through one-to-one interviews. Results of the study are promising and substantiate the viable potential of COCA as an educational tool in language teaching. (Published abstract)
