هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تسليط الضوء على دور المعلم في تنمية مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين لطالبات المرحلة المتوسطة في المدارس الأهلية بمدينة جدة، وتم استهداف 3 من مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين لهذه الدراسة وهي (مهارة حل المشكلات، مهارة اتخاذ القرارات، مهارة التفكير الناقد). شارك في الدراسة 7 معلمات من معلمات المرحلة المتوسطة في مدرستين أهلية في مدينة جدة، تم اختيارهن بشكل قصدي. اشتملت أدوات البحث على أداتين هما: المقابلة والملاحظة، وتكونت أسئلة المقابلة من 10 أسئلة بما يتناسب مع أهداف وأسئلة الدراسة. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن للمعلمات دور ضعيف في تنمية مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين لدى طالبات المرحلة المتوسطة. كما أوصت الدراسة أن تقوم المعلمة بتخصيص وقت أثناء الدرس للحوار والمناقشة وطرح الأسئلة وأن تضع إدارات المدارس نظام وآلية واضحة لاتخاذ القرارات من قِبل الطالبات بالإضافة إلى منح وقت كافي للطالبات للتفكير في الإجابة وحل المشكلة بدلاً من الإسراع في حلّها. The purpose of the study was to highlight the role of the teacher in developing the skills of the twenty-first century for middle-school female students in the private schools of Jeddah. Three of the skills of the twenty-first century were targeted for this study: problem-solving skills, decision making skills and critical thinking skills. The study sample consisted of seven middle school teachers in two private schools in Jeddah, the sample was randomly selected. The research tools included two tools: interview and observation, and the corresponding questions consisted of 10 questions from the design and compilation of the researcher appropriate to the objectives and questions of the study. The results of the study showed that female teachers had a weak role to play in developing the skills of the twenty-first century among middle school students. The study also recommended that the teacher devote time during the course to dialogue, discussion and questions, and that school administrations establish a clear system and mechanism for decision-making by students, as well as sufficient time for students to think about the answer and solve the problem rather than quickly resolve it.
