هدف الدراسة بشكل عام التعرف إلى مستوى الوعي بالتشريعات البيئية لدى الطلبة، ودور الجامعات الفلسطينية في تنميتها، ولهذا استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، كما اختيرت عينة عشوائية بسيطة بمعدل 15% من مجتمع الدراسة، فتكونت العينة من 600 طالب وطالبة، وأعد اختبار الوعي بالتشريعات البيئية، واستبانة لدور الجامعات في تنميته، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن هناك ضعفا في معرفة طلبة الجامعات الفلسطينية بالمواثيق والتشريعات البيئية سواء على الصعيد الدولي منها، أم على الصعيد المحلي الفلسطيني، حيث لم يزد مستوى معرفتهم بتلك التشريعات عن 70% في الحد الأدنى، ولقد احتلت معرفة الطلبة بالمواثيق الدولية البيئية المرتبة الأولى بتكرار 42، ونسبة مئوية 7%، أما معرفتهم بالتشريعات البيئية الفلسطينية، فكانت في المرتبة الثالثة بتكرار 20، ونسبة مئوية 3.3%. وهذا يعني غياب الثقافة البيئية الفلسطينية المتعلقة بالتشريعات والقوانين البيئية. ولقد كانت هناك فروق دالة إحصائيا في مستوى الوعي بهذه التشريعات، ترجع لمتغير الجنس، ونوع الجامعة، وكانت هذه الفروق لصالح الذكور من جهة، وطلبة الجامعة الإسلامية من جهة أخرى. This study aimed at identifying the role of the Palestinian universities in developing environmental regulations awareness among students. Therefore, the analytical descriptive approach has been used. A simple random sample has been selected at (15%) of the population. The overall sample came to be (600) male and female Palestinian students. So two tools have been prepared: a questionnaire about the role of the Palestinian universities in developing environmental regulations awareness and environmental regulations test. The study found that there are a weakness in the awareness of international & local environmental regulations for the student of Palestinian Universities, so the level of this awareness is less than (70%) , Therefore, the awareness of international environmental regulations takes the first mark with (42) frequencies and (7) Percentage but the awareness of local environmental regulations takes the third rank with (20) frequency & (3.3) percent. This means that the Culture & literacy of Palestinian environmental regulations was absent. There are statistically significant differences at (α ≤ 0.01) in the studentsʼ responses about the total role of the Palestinian universities in developing environmental regulations awareness attributed to gender for males favor and for the Islamic University favor.
