تناولت هذه الدراسة دور التعاطف مع الذات واحترام الذات كعاملين وقائيين في العلاقة بين سوء معاملة الأطفال والرفاهية الذاتية للبالغين في عينة متاحة مكونة من 414 طالبة جامعية في دولة الكويت. تم جمع البيانات من خلال استبانة مكونة من مقاييس: سوء معاملة الطفل، واحترام الذات، والتعاطف مع الذات، والرفاهية الشخصية، والدعم الاجتماعي. كشفت نتائج تحليل النمذجة البنائية أن سوء المعاملة النفسية والإهمال كانا مرتبطين سلبيًا وبدلالة إحصائية بالرفاهية الذاتية للبالغين، وتوسط كل من احترام الذات والتعاطف مع الذات في تأثير سوء معاملة الطفل (الإيذاء الجنسي والإهمال العاطفي) على الرفاهية الذاتية. وعلاوة على ذلك، عدّل الدعم الاجتماعي العلاقة بين سوء معاملة الطفل والرفاهية الذاتية. Guided by the perspective of positive psychology, this study examines the roles of self-compassion and self-esteem as protective factors in the relationship between child maltreatment and adult subjective well-being; in a sample of 414 university female students in the state of Kuwait. The data are collected through a questionnaire covering five domains: child maltreatment, self-esteem, self-compassion, subjective well-being, and social support. Results of SEM revealed that psychological maltreatment abuse and neglect were associated with adult subjective well-being. Self-esteem and self-compassion mediate the effect of child maltreatment (sexual abuse and emotional neglect) on subjective well-being. Furthermore, social support moderates the relation between child maltreatment and subjective well-being. (Published abstract)
