تقوم هيئات اعتماد مؤسسات التعليم العالي بمهام ومسؤوليات عديدة ومهمة تسهم في عمليات تحسين وضمان جودة مخرجات التعليم العالي. ولعل المسؤولية المجتمعية واحدة من أهم المسؤوليات التي تقوم بها هذه الهيئات، فهي الجهة التي تزود المجتمع بالمعلومات الدقيقة والصحيحة عن مؤسسات التعليم العالي وما تقدمه من برامج وما تقوم به من نشاطات ترتبط بوظائف هذه المؤسسات. وهي الجهة التي تراقب وتتابع عمل هذه المؤسسات وتتأكد من سلامة الإجراءات التي تتم في هذه المؤسسات. في هذا البحث تم استعراض ومناقشة وإبراز المسؤولية المجتمعية لكل من مؤسسات التعليم العالي ولهيئات الاعتماد. واتضح من خلال هذه المناقشة ان هنالك تكاملا وترابطا ما بين ما تقوم به مؤسسات التعليم العالي وما تقوم به هيئات الاعتماد فيما يتعلق بالمسؤولية الاجتماعية. وأظهرت الدراسة ان الالتزام بالمسؤولية الاجتماعية يعد عاملا مهما وضروريا في تنمية المجتمع وتقدمه وهو أيضاً ضروري لرفع القدرة التنافسية لمؤسسات التعليم العالي محليا وإقليميا ودوليا. Higher Education commissions tasks and responsibilities are numerous and important to the contribution of the improvement of higher education and to ensure the quality of higher education outcomes. Perhaps social responsibility is one of the most important carried out by these commissions, one of its tasks is to provides the public with accurate and correct information about the higher education institutions, about the programs they offer and about the activities related to the functions of these institutions. It is also monitor the works of these institution to ensure measures in these institutions goes the right way. In this paper the researcher review, discuss and highlight the social responsibility for each of the higher education institutions and the commissions of higher education accreditation. It appears that there is an integration and correlation between the work of the higher education institutions and accreditation commission with regard to social responsibility. The study showed that the commitment to social responsibility is an important and necessary condition for development and progress of society, it is also necessary to improve the competitiveness of higher education institutions locally, regionally and internationally.
