رغم الزيادة الكبيرة في كمية النفايات الإلكترونية والخطر الذي تشكله في الوقت الحاضر ومستقبلاً، لا تزال ليبيا لا تعير الاهتمام اللازم لهذه النفايات عكس الكثير من الدول، من هنا قررنا اجراء هذه الدراسة التي كانت تهدف إلى تقييم مدى وعي طلبة كلية الهندسة في جامعة طرابلس اتجاه النفايات الإلكترونية ومصادرها وخطرها على البيئة والإنسان. وتمثلت مشكلة البحث في ان المجتمعات في الدول النامية لا تزال تعاني من تدني مستوى الوعي البيئي بشكل عام والوعي بالنفايات الإلكترونية بشكل خاص كما ان هناك زيادة في استخدام الاجهزة الإلكترونية الذي صاحبه زيادة وبمعدلات كبيرة في كميات النفايات الإلكترونية وبالتالي زيادة المخاطر المتعلقة بهذا الاستخدام على صحة الإنسان وبيئته. واعتمدت هذه الدراسة على استبيان تم تصميمه وتوزيعه على عدد 505 طالب من طلبة كلية الهندسة بجامعة طرابلس، لمعرفة مدى وعيهم بالنفايات الإلكترونية، حيث اظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن الطلاب لديهم مستوى وعي مقبول اتجاه هذه النفايات، واظهرت النتائج أيضًا أن نسبة من الطلبة لا يعرفون ماهية النفايات الإلكترونية او لم يسمعوا بها وذلك نتيجة لقلة التوعية بالنفايات الإلكترونية وخطرها وعدم وجود هذا الموضوع في المناهج التعليمية التي قام الطلبة بدراستها. Despite the significant increase in the amount of electronic waste and the danger it poses at present and in the future, Libya still does not pay the necessary attention to this waste, unlike many countries, from here we decided to conduct this study which aims to assess the awareness of students of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tripoli towards electronic waste, its sources and its danger to the environment and humans. The problem of the research was that societies in developing countries still suffer from a low level of environmental awareness in general and awareness of electronic waste in particular, and there is an increase in the use of electronic devices, which was accompanied by an increase and at large rates in the quantities of electronic waste, and thus increased risks related to this use on Human health and environment. This study relied on a questionnaire that was designed and distributed to 505 students to find out the extent of their awareness of electronic waste. The results of the study showed that students had an acceptable awareness towards these wastes, the results also showed that a proportion of them did not know what electronic wastes were or they did not hear of it as a result of the lack of awareness of electronic waste and its danger, and the absence of this topic in the educational curriculum that the students studied.
