هدف البحث إلى التعرف على أهداف الطلبة من الالتحاق بالدراسة بقسم الإعلام وعلوم الاتصال في جامعة تعز، وقد استخدمت الباحثتان منهج البحث الوصفي التحليلي، وأداة المقابلة، التي اشتملت على (4) محاور رئيسية، و(15) محورا فرعيا، تم في ضوئها مقابلة عينة عشوائية مكونة من (25) طالباً وطالبة، وقد أظهرت النتائج أن لدى الطلبة أهدافاً شخصية تتمثل في بناء الشخصية وتحقيق الذات، وتطوير الأفكار والخبرات والمواهب، وتحقيق التميز، والاستقلالية، والثقة بالنفس، وتحقيق الطموحات والرغبات الشخصية، وأهدافاً أكاديمية تتمثل بالتخصص في مجال الإعلام، والحصول على شهادة جامعية، والتفوق ومواصلة الدراسات العليا، وزيادة النمو العقلي والفكري، ورفع المستوي الثقافي، والتدريس في قسم الإعلام وعلوم الاتصال، وأهدافا مهنية تتمثل في اكتساب مهارات عملية ومهنية، وتعلم أصول وقواعد المهنة، والحصول على فرص عمل داخلياً وخارجياً، وتحسين الدخل المادي، والحصول على تأهيل مهني، وأهدافاً اجتماعية تتمثل بتكوين علاقات اجتماعية، والتعرف على بيئات مختلفة، والحصول على مكانة اجتماعية، وتجسيد الواقع، ونقل الحقيقة، وتعلم مهارات الاتصال والعمل الجماعي، وخلص البحث إلى تقديم العديد من التوصيات كان أبرزها الاهتمام بالإعداد الأكاديمي والمهني للطلبة، والاهتمام بالجانب التطبيقي موازاة مع الجانب النظري. The aim of the study was to identify students' goals of studying in the Department of Media and Communication Sciences at Taiz University. The researchers used the analytical descriptive research method and the interview tool, which included (4) main themes, (15) subthemes, and a random sample of (25) students. The results of the study showed that students have (1) personal goals including building personality and self-fulfillment, developing ideas, experiences and talents, achieving excellence, independence, self-confidence, attaining ambitions and personal desires; (2) academic goals including obtaining a university degree in Media, achieving academic excellence and pursuing higher studies; (3) professional goals including acquiring practical and professional skills, obtaining employment opportunities at home and abroad; (4) social goals including establishing social relations, recognizing different working environments, gaining social status, reflecting reality, transmitting the truth, and learning communication skills and teamwork. On the basis of these results, the study concluded with a number of recommendations for developing students' skills and abilities at the academic and professional level through focusing on the practical side in parallel with the theoretical side.
