لقد هدف هذا البحث إلى توضيح دوافع إلتحاق الطلبة ببرامج الدراسات العليا في الجامعات الفلسطينية من وجهة نظر الطلبة أنفسهم، وقد تم استخدام جامعة واحدة لدراسة هذا الموضوع كدراسة حالة عن بقية الجامعات الفلسطينية الأخرى وهي الجامعة العربية الأمريكية الواقعة في شرق مدينة رام الله، وقد استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي ومنهج المسح الإجتماعي، وتكون مجتمع البحث من طلبة الدراسات العليا في الجامعة المذكورة، وتم أخذ عينة منهم بقيمة 48 عنصراً، واستخدم الباحث أداة الإستبانة لجمع المعلومات. وقد توصل البحث إلى العديد من النتائج كان من أهمها: أن غالبية طلبة الدراسات العليا هم من الذكور ومن ذوي العمر المتوسط ومن ذوي الخبرة العملية القليلة والمتوسطة بشكل متساوي ومن ذوي التخصصات الإنسانية والتطبيقية مع زيادة قليلة للتخصصات الإنسانية مقارنة بغيرها وأن غالبيتهم من غير العاملين. كما تبين أن دوافع إلتحاق الطلبة ببرامج الدراسات العليا قد جاءت لأسباب مادية، والحصول على مركز إجتماعي، وأسباب تطورية - علمية، وحيازة وظيفة مناسبة، وتعبئة وقت الفراغ، وأسباب ذاتية سياسية أو غيرها، ودوافع تقليدية للغير، وهجرة للخارج، وقرب برامج الدراسات العليا ومنحة دراسية مجانية، وتبين أيضاً إنسانية، وبرامج طبية، وبرامج هندسية، وبرامج تقنية، وبرامج قانونية، وبرامج سياسية، وبرامج اجتماعية، وبرامج تجارية - مالية، وبرامج تنموية - إرشادية. كما تبين أنه يوجد علاقة طردية بين الدوافع المصاحبة للإلتحاق ببرامج الدراسات العليا وبين نوعية برامج الدراسات العليا نفسها، فكلما ازدادت حدة التأثيرات لتلك الدوافع زاد إلتحاق الطلبة ببرامج الدراسات العلياوالعكس أيضاً. وقد وضع الباحث في نهاية هذا البحث عدد من التوصيات جاء من أهمها ضرورة التوازن في إفتتاح برامج الدراسات العليا ما بين التخصصات الإنسانية والتطبيقية، وتفضيل المصلحة القومية على المصلحة الربحية من قبل المؤسسات التعليمية التي تقوم بافتتاح بعض التخصصات بهدف تحقيق الربح المادي دون غيره. The aim of this research is to clarify the motives for students to enroll in graduate programs in Palestinian universities from the point of view of the students themselves. One university has been used to study this subject as a case study from the rest of the other Palestinian universities, which is the Arab American University located in the east of the city of Ramallah. The descriptive analytical approach and the social survey method, and the research community consisted of graduate students at the mentioned university, and a sample of them with a value of 48 items was taken, and the researcher used the questionnaire tool to collect information, and the research reached many results, the most important of which was that the majority of graduate students are from Males, middle-aged, with little and medium practical experience equally, and with humanitarian and applied specializations, with a small increase in humanitarian specializations compared to others, and that the majority of them are non-working. It was also found that the students’ motives for enrolling in postgraduate programs came for financial reasons, obtaining a social status, developmental/ scientific reasons, holding a suitable job, mobilizing leisure time, political or other subjective reasons, traditional motives for others, emigration abroad, and the proximity of postgraduate programs. And a free scholarship, and it was also found that the types of graduate programs are literary programs, humanitarian programs, medical programs, engineering programs, technical programs, legal programs, political programs, social programs, commercial/ financial programs, and development/ extension programs. It was also found that there is a direct relationship between the motives associated with enrolling in graduate programs and the quality of the graduate studies programs themselves. At the end of this research, the researcher made a number of recommendations, the most important of which was the need for balance in the opening of graduate studies programs between human and applied disciplines, and the preference of the national interest over the profit interest by educational institutions that open some disciplines with the aim of achieving financial profit without others.
