The paper aimed to shed light on the concept of education in the light of digital citizenship, the goals of education in the light of digital citizenship, and defines the concept of sustainable development, and the features of sustainable development, and the definition of sustainable development goals in education, and defines the requirements for digital citizen formation and the role of education institutions in its formation, and the paper was used : Descriptive analytical method. The paper reached to: Determining the requirements for digital citizen formation and the role of educational institutions in its formation. The requirements for digital citizen formation include the following: Digital access, digital fitness, digital laws, digital commerce, digital communications, digital literacy, digital rights and responsibilities, digital security, digital health and safety. All this is achieved through the following: preparing an ethical charter or digital code of conduct, directing awareness sessions in the field of parenting in the digital age, accreditation of the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality of digital education standards, and creating guides for educators and parents with the most important guidance on skills for optimal use of the Internet.
