هدف البحث للكشف عن فعالية برنامج سلوكي في خفض حدة الصمت الاختياري وتنمية الكفاءة الاجتماعية لدى تلاميذ المرحلة الابتدائية، وقد بلغت عينة الدراسة (6) طلاب تراوحت أعمارهم ما بين (6-8) سنوات، بمتوسط عمري (7.2) سنوات، وتم إعداد مقياس الصمت الاختياري للأطفال كما يدركه الآباء (إعداد Bergman et al., 2001؛ ترجمة الباحث)، ومقياس الصمت الاختياري للأطفال كما يدركه المعلمين (إعداد Bergman et al, 2001؛ ترجمة الباحث)، وقائمة الكفاءة الاجتماعية للأطفال كما يدركه الآباء والمعلمين (إعداد الباحث)، ومقياس ستانفورد بينية للذكاء (الصورة الرابعة) (تقنين حنورة، 2003)، والبرنامج السلوكي للأطفال (إعداد الباحث)، وأسفرت نتائج الدراسة عن وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا بين متوسطي رتب درجات المجموعة التجريبية على مقياس الصمت الاختياري والكفاءة الاجتماعية (كما يدركه الآباء والمعلمين) في القياسين القبلي والبعدي لصالح القياس البعدي، ولا توجد فروق دالة إحصائيا بين متوسطي رتب درجات المجموعة التجريبية على مقياس الصمت الاختياري الكفاءة الاجتماعية (كما يدركه الآباء والمعلمين) في القياسين البعدي والتتبعي.
