This study aims to determine the parental socialization methods in Algerian families and their relationships with the level of the children's achievement motivation .Also, to disclose the nature of differences between the two sexes in their perception for parental socialization methods, and to study both the family socialization methods and the achievement motivation level with regard to economic and cultural level of the family. 1) The researcher adopted the descriptive methodology with the correlation and comparison styles. 2) This study was applied on a stratified random sample of 380 students, 158 male and 222 female, from the University of Biskra. In the 2013/14 academic year; where the average age of the students is 22. 3) SPSS17 is used to analyze the collected data. Study tools: 1) The measure of family socialization methods (prepared by researcher). 2) Questionnaire of achievement motivation (prepared by Khalifa 2006). 3) The economic and cultural form (prepared by researcher) The main results of the study are: 1) There is a positive correlation statistically significant between the methods of family socialization on the part of parents (father and mother) which are characterized by (acceptance,encouragement for achievement) and the achievement motivation level of the children. 2) There is no correlation statistically significant between the methods of family socialization on the part of parents (father and mother) which are characterized by (authoritative, spoil, dissipation) and the achievement motivation level of the children. 3) There is a negative correlation statistically significant between the methods of family socialization on the part of parents (father and mother) which are characterized by (neglect) and the achievement motivation level of the children. 4) There are statistically significant differences between males and females in methods of family socialization (neglect, dissipation) to the father in favor of male, and in favor of females (spoil). There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in methods of family socialization (authoritative, acceptance, encouragement for achievement). 5) There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in methods of family socialization (authoritative, spoil, dissipation, and acceptance) to the mother. There are statistically significant differences between males and females in methods of family socialization (neglect) to the mother in favor of males and (encouragement of achievement) in favor of females. 6) There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of students of high achievement motivation and the mean scores of students of low achievement motivation on a scale of family socialization Methods. 7) There are no statistically significant differences between male and female in the level of achievement motivation. 8) There are no statistically significant differences in the methods of parent's socialization style as seen by the students due to the educational level of both the father and mother. 9) There are no statistically significant differences at the level of achievement motivation as seen by the students due to the educational level of both the father and mother and their monthly income. 10) The level of achievement motivation of the students at the University of Med Kheider in the study sample medium. 11-Most parents adopt normal socialization methods at first (encouraging achievement and acceptance) when dealing with their children. The abnormal negative socialization methods are less adopted by the parents (authoritative, spoil, dissipation, neglect). (Author’s abstract)
