The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a teaching method using social media (Instagram, Snapchat) in acquiring critical thinking skills among high school students in Muharraq Governorate - Kingdom of Bahrain. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher followed the semi-experimental approach. The study sample consisted of 122 male and female students divided into four sections: two females, and two males chosen randomly from second-grade secondary students in two schools from the Muharraq Governorate/ Kingdom of Bahrain schools: Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifah Secondary School for Boys, and Muharraq Secondary School for Girls. Each school was to be an experimental division and the other was a control group. Members of the experimental group in each school were taught using social media, while the control group were taught the same lessons in the ordinary way. To achieve the goal of the study, the lessons (fifth, seventh, and eighth) that were developed from the Citizenship Education course were used, and the experimental and control groups were subjected to a post-test for critical thinking developed for the Bahraini formula and modified to fit the curriculum for citizenship education. To achieve the results of the study, the Two-way analysis of variance and the t- test were used to determine the significance of the differences between the performance of students in the control and experimental groups. Arithmetic averages and standard deviations were also used. The study concluded that there are significant differences at the level of significance (α≤0.05) in the post application of the critical thinking test in favor of the experimental group. There are statistically significant differences between the average performance of second-grade students in the critical thinking test due to the interaction between the teaching method and gender. Depending on the findings of this study, the researcher recommended using the results of this study to activate social networking sites (Instagram, Snapchat) as a teaching method in the educational educational process, especially with distance education procedures due to the spread of the Corona virus pandemic.
