The research aims to identify the beliefs of students - teachers in basic education colleges towards learning and teaching mathematics, The researcher prepared scale of beliefs towards learning and teaching mathematics, The scale was extracted for its validity and reliability, The scale becomes final form is composed of (26) items distributed in (3) fields: (beliefs about the role of the teacher, beliefs about teaching mathematics, beliefs about learning mathematics), After that, the scale was applied on the research sample consists of (136) male and female students from the fourth stage students - teachers /The department of mathematics in the basic education colleges of Al-Mustansiriyah University and Diyala University. To achieve the aim of the research, use the following: statistical means, standard deviations, Independent-samples (t-test), Research results showed to: 1) There are (19) positive beliefs for students of the Department of Mathematics - teachers toward learning and teaching mathematics and (7) negative beliefs. 2) There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) in the mean the estimation of the teacher students in their beliefs towards learning and teaching mathematics for each field of scale due to the gender variable. In the light of the results of the research, the researcher presented some recommendations and suggestions for the purpose of doing research and subsequent studies. (Published abstract)
