هدفت الدراسة إلى تحديد المشكلات البيئية الواجب تضمنها في محتوى كتاب العلوم للصف السادس المتوسط في دولة الكويت، والكشف عن مدى تضمين الكتاب لتلك المشكلات، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من كتاب علوم الصف السادس المتوسط بجزأيه الأول والثاني. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تم إعداد قائمة المشكلات البيئية، وتم توزيعها على خمسة مجالات رئيسية هي (الغلاف الهوائي، الغلاف المائي، الغلاف الصخري، الغلاف الحيوي، مشكلات مرتبطة بالسكان)، وفي ضوء قائمة المشكلات البيئية، تم اعداد أداة تحليل المحتوى من أجل استخدامها في تحليل محتوى كتاب علوم الصف السادس المتوسط للكشف عن مدى تضمين الكتاب لتلك المشكلات. وخلصت الدراسة إلى إعداد قائمة بالمشكلات البيئية التي يمكن تضمينها في محتوى كتاب العلوم للصف السادس المتوسط، حيث تكونت الصورة النهائية من خمسة مجالات رئيسية و(24) مشكلة بيئية فرعية، وأظهرت نتائج التحليل أن محتوى كتاب العلوم للصف السادس المتوسط تضمن (8) مشكلات بيئية فقط، وأن المشكلات البيئية قد تم تناولها بشكل ضعيف، كما لم يرد ذكر بعض المشكلات البيئية في هذا الكتاب، وجاء مجال "الغلاف الهوائي" في المرتبة الأولى بنسبة مئوية قدرها (%40) في اجمالي الكتاب، يليه في المرتبة الثانية مجال "مشكلات مرتبطة بالسكان" بنسبة مئوية قدرها (30%)، أما في المرتبة الثالثة جاء مجال "الغلاف الحيوي" بنسبة مئوية قدرها (20%)، ويلي ذلك مجال "الغلاف المائي" بنسبة مئوية قدرها (10%)، أما المشكلات البيئية المرتبطة بمجال "الغلاف الصخري" لم يظهر أي منها في محتوى كتاب العلوم للصف السادس المتوسط بجزأيه الأول والثاني. وخلصت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من التوصيات أهمها ضرورة إعادة النظر في محتوى كتاب العلوم للصف السادس المتوسط والتركيز في محتواه على المشكلات البيئية التي تم تناولها بشكل ضعيف أو لم يتم تناولها نهائيا وذلك لتعزيز وتنمية وعي الطلبة بها. This study aimed to identify the environmental problems that should be included in the content of the science book for the sixth intermediate grade in the State of Kuwait and to reveal the extent to which the book includes those problems. The study sample consisted of the sixth intermediate grade science book in its first and second parts. To achieve the objectives of the study, a list of environmental problems was prepared, and it was distributed into five main areas (the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, population-related problems). In the light of the list of environmental problems, a content analysis instrument was prepared for analyzing the content of the sixth intermediate grade science book to reveal the extent to which the book includes those problems. The study concluded by developing a list of environmental problems that can be included in the content of the science book for the sixth intermediate grade, where the final form consists of five main areas and (24) environmental sub-problems, and the results of the analysis showed that the content of the science book for the sixth intermediate grade included (8) environmental problems. Furthermore, the environmental problems have been poorly addressed, and some environmental problems are not mentioned in this book, and the “Atmosphere” field came in the first place with a percentage of (40%) in the total book, followed by the “problems” field in the second place. The “biosphere” field came in third place with a percentage of (20%), followed by the “hydrosphere” field with a percentage of (10%). The lithosphere" did not appear in the content of the science book for the sixth intermediate class, in its first and second parts. The study concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to reconsider the content of the science book for the sixth intermediate grade and focus its content on environmental problems that were poorly or not addressed at all, in order to enhance and develop students' awareness of them.
