هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن مستويات إدمان الهواتف الذكية لدى طلبة جامعة السلطان قابوس، وتوضيح طرق العلاج والإرشاد النفسي للمدمنين. كما هدفت إلى توضيح دور متغيرات الجنس، ومجال الدراسة، ودخل الأسرة والتحصيل الأكاديمي في هذا النوع من الإدمان. وقد تم تطبيق استبانة الإدمان على الهاتف الذكي على عينة طبقية مكونة من 849 طالبا وطالبة في المرحلة الجامعية الأولى بجامعة السلطان قابوس منهم 48.8% ذكور، و51.2% إناث. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك تم إجراء مقابلات لدعم البيانات الكمية التي تم جمعها من خلال الاستبانة. وقد بينت نتائج الدراسة أن نسبة الإدمان على الهواتف الذكية بين طلبة الجامعة هي 33.1%، وكان تجاهل الآثار الضارة للهاتف الذكي من أكثر الأعراض شيوعا لدى الطلبة. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة عن وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا بين طلبة الجامعة في الإدمان على الهاتف الذكي وفقا لمتغيرات: الجنس، ومجال الدراسة، ودخل الأسرة. كما توجد علاقة دالة احصائيا بين الإدمان والتحصيل الأكاديمي. The study aimed at revealing the levels of smartphone addiction among students of Sultan Qaboos University and its relationship to some variables. The study used the descriptive approach. A questionnaire on smartphone addiction has been applied on a stratified random sample of 849 students, 48.8% represented the males, and 51.2% were females. In addition, interviews were conducted to support the quantitative data collected through the questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the percentage of smartphone addiction among university students is 33.1%, and ignoring the harmful effects of the smartphone was one of the most common symptoms among students. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between university students in smartphone addiction according to sex, study discipline and family income. There is also a statistically significant relationship between addiction and academic achievement. (Published abstract)
