هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى معرفة دور البحث العلمي في النهوض بالتعليم العالي من وجهة نظر العمداء ورؤساء الأقسام في جامعة جرش، وتم توظيف النهج البحثي النّوعي المُختلط من خلال الإستعانة بواحدة من أدواته وهي السَّرد القصصي، حيث تمت مُقابلة (12) عميداً و(12) رئيس قسم في جامعة جرش ممن يقومون بإجراء الأبحاث العلمية. وتم اختيار المبحوثين بالطريقة القصديّة الطبقية. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن أهم أهداف البحث العلمي هو (الترقية الأكاديمية)، وأن دور البحث العلمي في النهوض بالتعليم العالي يتمثل بزيادة حجم المعرفة الإنسانية القائمة على تحكيم العقل والتبصر في الحقائق والاستفادة منها في المجال العملي. أن أهم أسس ومقومات البحث العلمي تتمثل بمصادر المعلومات وقواعد البيانات، والتمويل ، وتبين أن تأخر إجراءات نشر البحوث في المجلات العربية والاردنية هي أهم أحد المعوقات التي تواجه البحث العلمي، وتبين وجود علاقة ايجابية طردية (بين مستوى الأبحاث ومستوى التعليم العالي)، وأن الإسراع في إجراء تقويم البحوث هو أهم عوامل تطوير البحث العلمي، ويجب ان تلعب مؤسسات المجتمع المدني دوراً في تطوير البحث العلمي بتخصيص جزء من إرباحها لدعم البحث العلمي. The present study investigated the role of scientific research in loping higher education from the perspective of deans and heads of departments in Jarash University. A quantitative approach was adopted through using the narrative method. 12 deans and 12 heads of departments in Jarash University were interviewed. They have conducted several studies. They were sampled through the purposive stratified sampling method. The researchers found that (academic promotion) is the most significant goals behind conducting scientific research. They found that scientific research aims at improving higher education. To illustrate more, scientific research aims at expanding the amount of knowledge that is based on logic and facts. Its aims at utilizing knowledge in practical areas. The most significant requirements for conducting scientific research include: having information sources, databases and funding sources. The slow publication procedures of Arab and Jordanian Journals serve as the most significant obstacles hindering the process of conducting scientific research. There is a positive relationship between the quality of research and the quality of higher education. Carrying out the peer-review process fast plays a significant role in developing scientific research. The civil society institutions should play a significant role in developing scientific research. They should dedicate a percentage of their profits to fund scientific research. (Published abstract)
