This study aimed at identifying the theoretical underpinnings of the interdisciplinary education in universities and its role in achieving the requirements of Kingdom Vision 2030. The study also aimed at revealing the constraints and requirements to activate the interdisciplinary education in Saudi universities and reaching the most appropriate options to post-activation issues of interdisciplinary education in Saudi universities in the light of Kingdom Vision 2030’s requirements from the point of view of teaching staff members: education and research. To that end, the researcher has used the descriptive approach in its both survey and documentary methods in addition to a questionnaire as a study tool. The study has concluded that the need to activate the interdisciplinary education in Saudi universities has become a global orientation and strong requirement than ever before so that the society can keep the pace with current development in many disciplines globally and then meeting the requirements of Saudi society, the requirements of Kingdom Vision 2030, and achieving the sustainable development. In addition, the study shows that there was a high degree of agreement among the study sample to the constraints and requirements to activate the interdisciplinary education in Saudi universities and the most appropriate options to post-activation issues of interdisciplinary education in Saudi universities in the light of Kingdom Vision 2030’s requirements. Among axes of options, the axis of education that obtained a high mean came as the highest while the research axis was the lowest. Results were interpreted in the light of the conclusions of previous studies. This study generated a number of recommendations and proposed researches. (Published abstract)
