This study aimed to explore the early maladaptive cognitive schemes of the autistic child's parents and examine their relation to coping (adaptation) styles. The sample of the study consisted of 23 fathers and 24 mothers of children going to Baba Ammar kindergarten for people with special needs. The researchers used the short version of Jeffrey young’s scale for early maladaptive cognitive schemes and Carver’ (1997) scale for coping styles. On the basis of the results obtained, many recommendations and suggestions were made such as designing a counselling programme built on the modification of early maladaptive cognitive schemes and studying its impact on the coping of autistic child's parents.
