This study aims at exploring the effects of employing TRIZ theory on raising the level of reading comprehension for students with reading difficulties. To achieve this objective, the study focuses on answering the following main question: What is the effect of employing TRIZ theory on raising the level of reading comprehension for students who have difficulties in reading? In order to answer this question, the Quasi-Experimental approach was adopted in a procedural way. The sample was selected from one of Ramallah District private schools. A class of 21 students in the sixth grade participated in the study after taking a diagnostic test in the reading comprehension. The intervention was implemented in three reading lessons from the Arabic language textbook using four principles of TRIZ theory: the fragmentation and division, the separation and recapitulation, adding an intermediary, and finally the principle of feedback. The effect of intervention was detected after a Post-diagnostic test in reading comprehension. The results showed that the sample of the study achieved remarkable progress in its academic level in terms of reading comprehension. There were significant differences in the overall averages of the students' achievement between the pre-test and the post-diagnostic tests. The mean test scores in the pre-test were (46.6%), whereas the mean of the post-test markers got (83.3%). This indicates that there is a big effect of implementing TRIZ theory in raising the level of reading comprehension among students with reading difficulties. According to the final results, a number of recommendations was presented to the decision-makers in the Ministry of Education. The study shows the importance of training the curriculum developers to use TRIZ theory and integrate it into different curricula and fields, especially in the field of special education. Furthermore, the researcher recommends that the resource-room teachers should be trained to apply TRIZ theory in teaching. Finally, this research opens new paths for conducting additional research that help to know the ideal principles to use the theory in teaching. (Author’s abstract)
