This study aims at creating a list of teaching competencies needed for the teachers of physical education in Yemen in the stage of basic education to achieve this aim, the study seeks to answer the following questions: 1) what are the essential competencies for the physical education teachers in Yemen? 2) What is the rank of importance of the essential competencies for the physical education teachers in Yemen, according to the standpoint of the teaching staff of the sports departments in the two universities of Aden and Hadhramout. 3) Are their differences of statistical significance that can be attributed to the variants of the university, gender, qualification, and experience? The study ended up with a list of teaching competences needed for the teacher of physical education they are (19) competencies which consist of (102) performance competence. Besides, the study also concluded with a rank of importance of each competencies according to the standpoint of the teaching staff of the physical education department of the two universities of Aden and Hadhramout. The study results clarified that the estimation of the teaching staffs of the two university of Aden and Hahdramout for the great importance of the training competencies for the teachers of sports education where the arithmetic mean reached (4.267) and standard deviation reached (0.396) with a percentage weight (85.34 %), we also notice that the personality competence occupied the first rank concerning the importance for the competencies with the degree of importance (very big) the competency of fulfillment occupied the second rank with the degree of (very big ) whereas the competency of professional growth occupied the third rank with the degree (very big ) the first rank of the competency of personality can be interpreted as the teacher's personality plays a big role in transferring information to the students and in developing the educational process concerning the competency of physical fitness, it occupied the rank be for the last one regarding its importance (18) with the degree of (big).the competency of organization occupied the last rank of importance (no, 19) with the degree of (big). The other result can be seen through checking the previous figure as for as the competency of organization is concerned which took place as the last one in rank of importance, this result does not mean that this competency is not important. Our evidence is that its rank is (big) but there are other competencies which are more important than it according to the standpoint of the research sample. As for the question: are there any differences of statistical significance to the research sample according to variables of: university, sex, experience and qualification? To answer this question the researcher extracted the arithmetical, standard deviation, (t) value, freedom level and the significance level at (0.05) to all the questionnaire competencies to know the assessment level of educational competencies regarding the educational board at the departments of Aden and Hadhramout universities as follows: there are no significant differences to the study sample (physical education teachers) regarding the importance of educational competencies at Aden and Hadrahmout universities to the university variable at the significance level at (0.05). There are no significant differences to the study sample (physical education teachers) regarding the importance of educational competencies at Aden and Hadrahmout universities to the sex variable at the significance level at (0.05). There are no significant differences to the study sample (physical education teachers) regarding the importance of educational competencies at Aden and Hadrahmout universities to the qualification variable at the significance level at (0.05). There are no significant differences to the study sample (physical education teachers) regarding the importance of educational competencies at Aden and Hadrahmout universities to the experience variable at the significance level at (0.05). The researcher recommends more studies to be conducted on the teacher and his competencies and skills for stages of basic and secondary education. (Published abstract)
