The study aimed to identify the geographical distribution of private schools in the city of Irbid/Jordan for the year 2012-2013. It also seeks to note their spatial and temporal evolution, and its relationship with organizational development and urbanization of the city. Clarifying the relationship between the distribution of private schools and their student numbers in one hand, and population numbers and density in the seven areas of the city. The study was based on data obtained from first Irbid directorate for education, the greater Irbid municipality, the department of statistics, and the website of the ministry of education. Geographical information system (GIS) has been used to preform several spatial analysis such as nearest neighbor analysis, standard distance, directional distribution, and central feature. The study found that the pattern of the school’s distribution is clustered, and that their direction tends towards the north-east. The study proved, according to person correlation coefficient that there is no relation between school’s distribution and the distribution of population. (Published abstract)
