This study aimed to identify the difficulties facing the adaptation of novice teachers in Makkah region, resulting from college preparation, educational environment, and personality traits. It also aimed to propose ways of dealing with those difficulties. This study was based on the descriptive method, through a questionnaire applied in the first semester of the academic year 37/1438 A.H. on 86 novice teachers; 66.7% of the original community. The results showed that difficulties of adaptation resulting from college preparation were the most difficult for novice teachers in Makkah region. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the averages of the responses of the novice teachers in Makkah Al Mukarramah region on the whole questionnaire according to the variable of the educational stage, while there were statistically significant differences between the responses of these teachers on the whole questionnaire according to the variable of the educational administration for the teachers following El-Leith administration, and according to the variable of the number of years of experience for novice teachers with years of experience from one year to two years. The study presented several recommendations and procedural proposals that would help in dealing with difficulties facing the adaptation of novice teachers, such as: the application of tests to detect tendencies and interests toward the teaching profession when admitting students to the faculties of education, the adoption of a license to practice the teaching profession as a condition for appointment, holding monthly meetings to view the teachers' problems and suggestions for solving them, and exploring the views of novice teachers toward mechanisms of updating teacher education programs.
