هدف البحث إلى التعرف على مدى ممارسة طلاب الجامعات المصرية للعمل التطوعي ومبرراته ومعوقاته، وذلك في ضوء متغيرات: النوع (ذكر - أنثى)، والإقامة (ريف - حضر)، ولتحقيق ذلك الهدف تم تحديد مفهوم العمل التطوعي، ومجالاته، وأهميته للفرد والمجتمع، كما تم تصميم استبانة للتعرف على مدى ممارسة طلاب الجامعات المصرية للعمل التطوعي، وذلك في مجالات (مشاركة طلاب الجامعات المصرية في العمل التطوعي واتجاههم نحوه)، (مبررات العمل التطوعي من وجهة نظر الطلاب)، (معوقات العمل التطوعي)، وطبقت على عينة عشوائية بلغت (797) طالباً وطالبة من طلاب جامعات (الأزهر - كفر الشيخ - القاهرة - أسيوط)، وقد أظهرت النتائج أن درجة ممارسة العمل التطوعي لدى طلاب الجامعات في مصر متوسطة، كما أوضحت النتائج عدم وجود فروق إحصائية بين استجابات الطلاب عينة الدراسة في ممارستهم للعمل التطوعي تبعاً لمتغير الإقامة (ريف - حضر) بالنسبة لإجمالي الاستبانة، كما لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تبعاً لمتغير النوع (ذكر - أنثى) على الاستبانة مجملة. The current research aims at identifying the extent to which Egyptian university students practice voluntary work, its justifications and obstacles, in light of the following variables: gender (male - female), and residence (rural - urban). To achieve that goal, the concept of volunteerism, its fields, and its importance to the individual and society were identified. A questionnaire was also designed to identify the extent to which Egyptian university students practice voluntary work, in the fields of (participation of Egyptian university students in voluntary work and their direction towards it), (justifications for volunteering from the students' point of view), and (obstacles to voluntary work). Participants of the study were (797) male and female students from the universities of Al-Azhar - Kafr El-Sheikh - Cairo - Assiut all of them were randomly selected. Findings showed that the degree of voluntary work among university students in Egypt is medium. Findings also showed that there were no statistical differences between the responses of the students in their practice of voluntary work, according to the residence variable (rural - urban) with respect to the total questionnaire, and there were no statistically significant differences according to the gender variable (male - female) on the overall questionnaire.
