The importance of this research stems from dealing with an important topic that is (the cognitive procedure of affording / non-affording ambiguity strategy) which is related to a vast majority of people, namely- secondary school students. The present research tries to know: 1) the level of affording ambiguity to secondary school students. 2) The level of affording ambiguity in accordance to the variety (males - females). 3) The level of affording ambiguity in accordance to speciality (scientific- literary). 4) The level of affording ambiguity in accordance to the stage. To achieve the research purpose, the researcher adopted fares criteria (2009) of affording / non-affording ambiguity which is consisted of 50 items of four substitutions applied on 600 students. Stability coefficient scored (0.09) by the half-separation approach and (0.84) when repeating the test. The statistical means were used to find out the reliability and stability criteria and the data were analyzed statistically by using the SPSS. This research reached to the following conclusions: 1) students have the ability to afford ambiguity. 2) There is no statistical difference between males and females to afford ambiguity. 3) There is no statistical difference between the scientific and literary. Field to afford ambiguity. (Published abstract)
