The aim of this study is to know the problems solving level at preparatory stage pupils, and the significant difference in problem solving according to two variables which they are gender (male, female), and study branch (literary, scientific).the research sample individual number was (300) students selected by a randomly way from some preparatory and secondary schools. Problem solving scale that dependent by (Abo Hammad, 2007) was used to achieve the study's aims, and in order to be insurance of the scale validity surface validity dependent by showing it to a group of education and psychology expert. For finding the reliability of the scale it was applied on a random sample of pupils, and after two weeks it applied again then the computed between the two tests and it relation coefficient was (0.88) the results showed that the research's sample posses a high level of the ability of solving problems , also it showed that there is no statistically significant difference in solving problems according to gender variable (male, female), but there is statistically significant difference in solving problems according to study branch (literary, scientific) and in favor of scientific. According to these results the researcher put some conclusions and recommendations written at the end of the study. (Published abstract)
