هدف البحث إلى التعرف على العلاقة بين العوامل الخمس الكبرى للشخصية وإدمان الإنترنت لدى طلاب وطالبات المرحلة الثانوية في منطقة جازان، كما هدف البحث إلى التعرف على الفروق بين الذكور والإناث في إدمان الإنترنت لدى عينة البحث وأجري البحث على عينة قوامها (200) طالب وطالبة من الطلبة المنتظمين في العام الدراسي 1436-1435 هـ، وقد استخدم الباحث مقياس العوامل الخمس الكبرى للشخصية من إعداد الرويتع، (2007 م)، ومقياس إدمان الإنترنت لطلاب المرحلة الثانوية من إعداد العصيمي (2010 م)، وقد توصل البحث إلى أنه توجد علاقة ارتباطية موجبة دالة إحصائياً بين العصابية كأحد العوامل الخمس الكبرى للشخصية وكل من التحمل والصراع كإحدى أبعاد إدمان الإنترنت لدى عينة البحث ، كما توصل البحث إلى أنه توجد علاقة ارتباطية موجبة دالة إحصائيا بين الانبساطية كأحد العوامل الخمس الكبرى للشخصية وكل من تعديل المزاج والتحمل والانتكاس كإحدى أبعاد إدمان الإنترنت لدى عينة البحث، كما توصل البحث إلى أنه توجد فروق دالة إحصائياً بين الطلاب والطالبات في كل من البروز، والأعراض الإنسحابية، والصراع، والانتكاس، والاعتمادية، وسوء الاستخدام كإحدى أبعاد إدمان الإنترنت لدى عينة البحث، وتوصل البحث إلى أنه لا توجد فروق دالة إحصائيا بين الطلاب والطالبات في كل من تعديل المزاج، والتحمل كإحدى أبعاد إدمان الإنترنت لدى عينة البحث، ويوصي الباحث بتدريب طلاب وطالبات المرحلة الثانوية على التحكم في الانفعالات لأن ذلك من شأنه أن يحسن من قدرتهم على التحمل وإدارة مواقف الصراع في تواصلهم مع الإنترنت. This study aims to recognize the relationship between the Big Five Factors of Personality on one hand and addiction to the Internet on the other hand among students, of both genders, enrolled in the secondary stage of education in Jazan Province. It also aims to recognize the differences between male and female students in terms of addiction to the Internet among members of the sample group. Accordingly, the study was applied upon a sample group composed of 200 regular students enrolled in the academic year 1435 - 1436 H. To this aim, the researcher has used the scale of the Big Five Factors of Personality (developed by Al-Rowaetei, 2007) and the scale of addiction to the Internet (developed by Al-Osaimy, 2010). The study concluded that there is a statistically indicative positive correlation between Neuroticism as being one of the Big Five Factors of Personality on one hand and both of endurance and conflict as being classified under the dimensions of addiction to the Internet on the other hand among members of the sample group. Moreover, the study concluded that there is a statistically indicative positive correlation between Extroversion - Openness as being one of the Big Five Factors of Personality on one hand and mood modification, endurance and retrogression as being classified under the dimensions of addiction to the Internet on the other hand among members of the sample group. Also, there are statistically indicative differences among members of the sample group in terms of emergence, withdrawal symptoms, conflict, retrogression, reliance, and misuse as being among the dimensions of addiction to the Internet among members of the sample group. However, there are no statistically indicative differences among members of the sample group in terms of mood modification and endurance as being one of the dimensions of addiction to the Internet among members of the sample group. Therefore, the researcher recommended that students of both genders enrolled in the secondary stage of education shall be trained to control their emotions and sentiments. By doing so, students’ capability of endurance and management of conflict situations upon communication with the Internet would be further enhanced and improved. (Published abstract)
