إن العملية التعليمة كل متكامل لا ينفصل فيها الفكر عن العمل ويتفاعل الجانب النظري مع الجانب التطبيقي لتكون الحصيلة متوازنة وفاعله، والمدرسة مجتمع صغير متكامل يدرب الفرد على حياة المجتمع بألوانها وأنواعها، بجدها وهزلها، بخبراتها وتجاربها، وأصبح دور المدرسة هو الموازنة بين الجانب العقلي المعرفي، والجوانب الانفعالية والجسمية والاجتماعية ، فعصر اليوم هو عصر علم وفكر وإبداع، عصر تتسارع فيه ثورة التقدم العلمي في مجالات الحياه كافه ويكتسب الجانب التطبيقي للمعرفة أهمية تتزايد يوما بعد يوم، فلم تعد التربية في عالم اليوم تقف عند جانب معين من جوانب النمو، وإنما هي تربية مستمرة متكاملة تتصده لمهمة أكثر عمقا تتمثل في إعداد المتعلم إعدادا شاملا في شتى المجالات، وتحرص على بناء شخصيته بناء متكاملا ومتوازنا ليكون قادرا على مواجهة متطلبات الحياه المعاصرة. وبالنظر إلى أدوات المدرسة في هذه المهمة نجدها متعددة ومتنوعة، ولعل النشاط المدرسي من أدواتها المهمة، فهو يشكل أحد ركائز التربية الحديثة التي تتشكل فيه شخصية الطالب منذ التحاقه بالمدرسة وحتى تخرجه منها، فإحداث التغييرات الإيجابي في شخصية الطالب يتطلب تغييرا في مسار الحياه الدراسية التي ينبغي أن تتضمن الممارسات العملية لظروف الحياه في المجتمع.والأنشطة المدرسية تجعل المدرسة خلية اجتماعية مليئة بالتفاعل والنشاط ، فيها حيوية وعمل وتجارب، ولا سيما إذا طبقت هذه الأنشطة وفق أهداف وأساليب سليمة تطبيقا علميا وعمليا مبنيا على اقتناع القائمين عليها بأهميتها في حياه النشء وحياه المجتمع ، كما أنها تساعد في تكوين عادات ومهارات وقيم وأساليب تفكير ضرورية لمواصلة التعليم والمشاركة في التنمية الشاملة.
