تمثل أهمية الدراسة في محاولة التأكيد على دور الجامعة في بناء شخصية طلابها لتعي قضايا مجتمعها وتحفظ ‏له أمنه وسلامته في مواجهة القضايا المختلفة، تلك الشخصية التي تشعر بمسئولياتها الوطنية تجاه المجتمع وضرورة ‏تفعيل التنمية الوطنية. كما تهتم الدراسة بإلقاء الضوء على طبيعة المشكلات التي تواجهها الجامعة والتي تعوقها عن ‏القيام بهذا الدور الهام. حيث يتأتى دور الجامعة في العمل على تأكيد ضمانات عدة ؛ منها، مكانة القيم العليا ضمن ‏النسق القيمى عند الشباب، وعي شباب الجامعة بالقيم العليا والغايات التي تتجه اليها .‏تشكيل وعي الشباب حول معنى الكرامة الوطنية في إطار القيم العليا الحاكمة لشخصية الوطن. كما إجتهدت الدراسة في طرح بعض التوصيات التي بدورها يمكن أن تذب بعض من تلك المعوقات في سبيل ‏النهوض بوعى الشباب وإعلاء مفهوم التنمية الوطنية. وذلك في محاولة لاثراء دور الجامعة مما يعود عليها بالنفع ‏والفائدة، فانتاج الجامعة لخريج وطني يعي قضايا وطنه ويساهم في حلها، ولديه شعور الانتماء لوطنه وجامعته التي ‏عززت لديه هذا الشعور يعود بالفائدة على الجامعة وعلى الوطن ككل كما يعود بالفائدة على ذاته. فمواطن مسئول تعنى ‏مجتمع متقدم .‏‎ انتهجت الدراسة :‏تنتهج الدراسة الحالية "المنهج الوصفي" نظراً لملائمتها لطبيعة الدراسة وذلك من خلال : ‏1) دراسة نظرية : وذلك بالرجوع الى أدبيات التربية والدراسات ذات الصلة بالموضوع، في محاولة لاستنباط ماهية ‏القيم العليا في شخصية مصر ومدى تأثيرها على قضايا الأمن الوطني والتنمية الشاملة، ومعالم اسهامات الجامعة ‏في تنمية وعي طلابها بتلك القيم.‏ 2) دراسة ميدانية : وذلك في محاولة تهدف إلى التعرف على المعوقات التي تواجه الجامعة في القيام بدورها في تنمية ‏وعى طلابها بالقيم العليا في شخصية مصرومدى إسهامات ذلك في حل قضايا الأمن والتنمية الوطنية . ‏عينة الدراسة قامت على أساس تطبيق :‏ استبيان موجه إلى عينة من أساتذة الجامعة بالمنصورة حول دور الجامعة في تنمية وعي طلابها بالقيم العليا في ‏شخصية مصر وآراءهم في طبيعة المشكلات التي تواجهها الجامعة وإمكانية طرحهم لأي اقتراحات وتوصيات ‏لمواجهة تلك المشكلات. The importance of study is to try to emphasize the role of the university in building the ‎personality of its students to understand the issues of its society and preserve its hope and ‎safety in the face of various issues, that personality that feels its national responsibilities ‎towards society and the need to activate national development. The study is also ‎interested in highlighting the nature of the problems faced by the university, which it ‎knows about playing this important role. The university’s role in working to confirm ‎several guarantees, including:‎ The place of higher values within the youth value system. ‏The university’s youth are ‎aware of the higher values and goals they are going to ‎‏Forming the awareness of youth ‎about the meaning of national dignity within the framework of the higher values that ‎govern the personality of the nation The study also strives to present some recommendations, which in turn can overcome ‎some of those obstacles in order to promote the awareness of young people and raise the ‎concept of national development in an attempt to enrich the role of the university, which ‎benefits it, the production of the university produced a national graduate aware of his ‎homeland’s issues and contributes to its solution, and has a sense of Belonging to the ‎homeland and his university, which has strengthened this feeling, benefits the university ‎and the country as a whole as well as benefits to itself, as a responsible citizen means an ‎advanced society.‎ The current study adopts the ”descriptive approach” due to its relevance to the nature of ‎the study, through:‎ 1) Theoretical study: by referring to the literature of education and related studies, in ‎an attempt to devise what are the higher values in the personality of Egypt and the ‎extent of its impact on the issues of national security and comprehensive ‎development, and the features of the university’s contributions in the development of ‎the awareness of its students with those values. 2) Field study, in an attempt to identify the obstacles facing the university in its role in ‎developing the awareness of its students of the higher values in the personality of ‎Egypt and the extent of its contributions to the solution of security and national ‎development issues.‎ Based on the application of a questionnaire addressed to a sample of university ‎professors in Mansoura about the role of the university in developing the awareness of its ‎students of the higher values in the personality of Egypt and their opinions in the nature ‎of the problems faced by the university and the possibility of putting forward any ‎suggestions and recommendations to face these problems.
