This study aims to identify the Scientific Productivity of faculty members at King Faisal University, the Status, Obstacles and Methods for improvement. The researcher used a questionnaire to collect data which was analyzed statistically. The results of study indicated: 35% of participants did not publish any article since they obtained their PhDs. 76.3% did not publish or have had published 14- articles since they obtained their PhDs. King Faisal University, as an institution was a factor that deterred faculty members from publishing. There were other factors that are related to personal and social reasons. The most influential factors that deter faculty members from publishing are their administrative duties, the scarcity of resources at the university libraries, the lack of equipment for scientific fields and also the lack of laboratories and research facilities for faculty in science fields. With regards to social factors faculty members believe that their social commitments and responsibilities and the lack of social acknowledgement and support for scientific research discouraged their research and publication. Participants believe that there are personal factors that challenge and deter their Scientific Productivity such as family commitment and limited computer and research skills. (Published abstract)
