هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على دور جامعة حائل نحو التحول إلى مجتمع المعلومات في ضوء رؤية المملكة العربية السعودية 2030، والتعرف إلى الفروق بين استجابات أعضاء هيئة التدريس في جامعة حائل، فيما يتصل بدورها للتحول نحو مجتمع المعلومات. وبلغت عينة الدراسة 66 عضو هيئة تدريس، وتم استخدم الاستبانة، والمنهج الوصفي، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن المتوسط الحسابي لاستجابات العينة بلغ 3.66، وهو يقع في نطاق بدرجة كبيرة، وتراوحت المتوسطات الحسابية لبنود المقياس المتصل بهذا الدور ما بين 3.41- 3.89، بين أدنى وأعلى متوسط حسابي، وضمن نسبة مئوية تراوحت بين %84-%68. كما أشارت النتائج عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية، تعزى لمتغيرات النوع الاجتماعي والقسم العلمي. وبناءً على النتائج أوصت الدراسة ببناء وثيقة استراتيجية حول مفهوم مجتمع المعلومات، في ضوء المتغيرات المعاصرة تراعي قضايا المعرفة بوصفها قوة وثروة، وفي ضوء رؤية المملكة العربية السعودية 2030، مع تركيز الجامعات على البحث العلمي الذي يستهدف احتياجات المجتمع. The study aimed to identify the role of Hail University in the transition towards the information society in light of the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030. The study also aimed to identify the differences between the responses of faculty members at Hail University in relation to the University’s role in the transition towards the information society. The study sample consisted of 66 faculty members, and employed a descriptive approach questionnaire. The study reached an arithmetic mean of 3.66 from sample responses, which is located at "high degree." The arithmetic mean of the scale items associated with this role ranged from 3.41 to 3.89, between the lowest and the highest mean, within a percentage ranging from 84% to 68%. The results also indicated no statistically significant differences due to the variables of the study gender, scientific section. Based on the results, the researcher recommends building a comprehensive strategic document on the concept of the information society. The document should take into account contemporary variables regarding issues of knowledge as a force and wealth in light of the vision of the Kingdom 2030. Universities also need to focus on scientific research that targets the needs of the community. (Published abstract)
