This study aims to investigating the development of executive functions (EF) and its relationship to sex among a sample from middle adolescence using the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function, Second Edition (BRIEF-SR). A total of 400 (200 boy, 200 girl) participants between 14 and 17 years of age. The results of the study showed a high score for both sexes and the presence of gender differences on the total score of the study tool for male’s adolescence. The results also showed differences in favor of females on planning and organizing and self-monitoring functions. The results of the study also showed that there were no significant age-related differences in executive functions, as measured by the study tool, except for the function of working memory. But Differences were found at age 15 years. The correlation between executive functions (inhibition, self-monitoring, transition from task to task) and age was positive but not statistically significant. (Author’s abstract)
