The study aims at developing the environmental values of the students of the basic education stage in Jordan through an environmental program based on the environmental approach and knowing the effectiveness of the program. Two schools were selected from the schools of the Directorate of Kasbah Amman. The study tools consist of a list of environmental values, a program based on environmental approach, and a scale of environmental values. The validity of the study tools is verified by presenting them to a number of specialized arbitrators and those interested in environmental affairs at the Ministry of Education. The consistency of the study scale was verified by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficient for applying the scale and re-applying it to a pilot sample. The results of the post-application of the environmental values scale on the experimental and control groups conclude that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the mean scores of students in the control group in the post-application of the total environmental value scale, and at sub-levels. Furthermore, the program is effective in the development of environmental values as a whole, and at sub-levels. The results of the study show that the effect size using ETA square in males is (0.441). On the other hand, the effect size of the females is (0.446) with very small difference of (0.005). The program explains that the variance of the control and experimental male groups in the post-application in the development of values is (0.559). The program explains that the variance for the control and experimental female groups in the post-application in the development of values is (0.554). The study recommends using the environmental approach in teaching and environmental activities in educational institutions. (Author’s abstract)
