This study aimed at identifying the extent to which social responsibility values have been included in the textbook of Hadith1 (Sayings of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) in secondary school in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Content analysis approach was used depending on the unit topic. An analysis list was designed which included 30 phrases in five themes of responsibility: personal responsibility, family responsibility, community responsibility, national responsibility and humanitarian responsibility. The results revealed that these themes received uneven attention where the foremost of which was the personal responsibility, followed by the social responsibility, followed by the family responsibility. However, humanitarian responsibility and national responsibility did not receive attention. At the level of phrases, the foremost of which was integrity and moderation of religion, followed by abstention of harm, followed by dealing ethically with members of the community, followed by honoring parents and treating them kindly and finally doing good and helping people of the Muslim community. Phrases that had no place and were not available in the textbook were: preserve environment and public facilities and contribute to repairing them, love home land and contribute to developing and advancing it, defend homeland, respect law and discipline and maintain order. The study provided a number of recommendations and suggestions. (Published abstract)
