The study aims to identify the self- discrepancy among the students of the preparatory stage. The research group is determined by the female students of the preparatory schools, which belong to the educational directorates in Basra province. The scale of Higgins (1985) was applied on a random sample of (856) female students for the academic year 2017-2018. The results of the study revealed that the female students of the preparatory stage have self- discrepancy that are realistic, financial, and realistic. The results also showed statistically significant differences according to the academic branch (scientific - literary) for the favor of the literary branch. (Published abstract)
