Man's existence cannot be attained away from others, and the continuity of his existence becomes impossible without his interaction with others in the different activities of life. And often this interaction leads to develop many types of social relationships, some of which last for long periods of Man's life, and are represented by specific forms of behavior such as friendship. While some others happen in certain situations, and which last for short periods of time, and are represented in specific forms of behavior such as helping behavior. Contemporary life has brought up to surface negative aspects, on top which is the weakness of helping behavior. This weakness of helping behavior has not been restricted to the other western and Arabic societies, but has included out society too. The researcher has sensed through his personal observation and his interaction with others and what he hears from them, that there is a notable amount of weakness in helping behavior among university students thus, this subject is worth studding. In the light of abovementioned the aims of the research have determine as flows. 1) Measuring helping behavior among university students in each form its three forms: a) favor, b) donation, c) intervention in emerge. 2) Knowing the difference in helping behavior in general among university students to variables: A) sex. B) The study specialization. This research has been determined to the students of Al-Mustansiriya University to both sexes of the pre-graduate student of the academic year 2013-2014. In order to attain the aims of the present research, the researcher has constructed a scale for the helping behavior, which has been determined in three fields: favor, donation and intervention in an emergency. and items have been formed to each field , which can answered through a five rating scale, then these items have been applied on a representative sample to the research society, consisted from (400) students. The results have indicated that the mean of helping behavior degrees in general among university students who have been included in this research, is greater that the hypothetical mean of the scale. The results also have indicated that male students offer more help than female students. The researcher has interpreted these results according to social exchange. (Published abstract)
