تؤدي الآن شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي دوراً محورياً في بناء منظومة المعارف والقيم لدى الشباب، وعليه فإن هذه الدراسة استهدفت الكشف عن واقع دارسات طالبات جامعة أم القرى داخل شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي بما يعكس "الوسطية" لديهن. وقد استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. وتكونت عينة الدراسة من 872 طالبة من مختلف المستويات والتخصصات الدراسية. ومن خلال نتائج الدراسة برزت شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي كقوة مؤثرة سلباً في تشكيل وعي الطالبات، تبيّن النتائج أن غالبية الطالبات يوظفن شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي لتحقيق أغراض ترفيهية واجتماعية فقط. كما اتسمت طبيعة أنشطة الطالبات داخل شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي بالتذبذب بين "الإفراط" و"التفريط"، في حين غابت الممارسة الوسطية. وإن دل هذا على شيء فهو يدل على غياب الرؤية النقدية وسيطرة العشوائية على أغلب أنشطة الطالبات داخل شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي. وعليه، توصي الدراسة بضرورة تطوير المنظومة التعليمية بالجامعة، بحيث تنمي لدى الطالبات "مهارات التفكير الناقد" بما يمكّنهن من توظيف شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي توظيفاً فعالاً ومنتجاً متجذراً في الوسطية. Presently, social networks exercise an overwhelming influence in constructing young people’s moral and ethical system. Upon that, the current study aimed at exploring to what extent female students’ at Umm Al-Qura University employ social networks in a manner that reflects their practice of moderation. The descriptive approach was adopted to fulfill the study objectives. A sample consisted of 872 female students at Umm Al- Qura University were randomly selected representing different study levels and specializations. Results recorded the emergence of the mischievous influence of social networks on students’ comprehension of the role played by social networks, as the majority recognized them as social and entertaining platforms only. In the meantime, students’ interactions on social networks expressed great hesitation and ambiguity as they fluctuated between excess and relinquish. A comprehensive and thorough alteration of the educational process in Um Al-Qura University are strongly recommended. University education must focus on developing students’ critical thinking in order to enable them to effectively exploit social networks while rooting their practice in a firm ground of moderation.
