Remorse feeling is strongly related with individual’s senses, feelings and passions. Also, it is clearly related with guilt feeling, which is the product of psychological constructing of personality. Subsequently, the interaction of these psychological aspects creates a construction whose features may appear through the traits of their personalities. This research aims at answering the following questions: 1) what is the level of situational remorse among the students of Mosul University? 2) Is there any statistical correlation between the situational remorse and some personality traits (guilt, embarrassment, shyness and conscientiousness)? 3) Is there any statistical correlation between the situational remorse and some personality traits according to the following variables: sex, school grade (first – forth), specialization (scientific – literary). A class random sample was chosen. This sample included 918 students of first and forth classes for the year 2004-2005 distributed upon seven colleges in Mosul University. The researcher has adopted two tools: situational remorse scale (prepared by al-Ansari, 2001) and scale of some personality traits. Face validity of the two scales was checked, by presenting these scales to some experts. Also, reliability of situational remorse scale. The researchers used statistically treated by using t-test, person correlation coefficient, z-test. Results showed the following: the students of university of two sexes have a high level of situational remorse. It was obvious that the situational remorse is closely related to trait of guilt and total personality traits. Also, the results indicated that situational remorse is slightly related to traits of embarrassment, consciousness and shyness. There are significant differences in the relation of situational remorse with some personality traits of two sexes in favor of males with regard to (traits of embarrassment, consciousness and total personality traits). It was obvious that there are significant differences between the two classes (first-forth) in favor of forth class with regard to (trait of guilt). There are statistical differences of specialization variable (scientific – literary) with regard to (trait of shyness and consciousness) in favor of literary specialization. [Published Abstract]
